Meet Joey

Joseph (who goes by “Joey) is in many ways a typical 15-year-old boy. He complains about homework, needs reminders to clean his room, and enjoys being with his friends. While he makes friends easily, he can also come off as a bit of a loner. He can be very shy, and he likes to be alone sometimes. Given the time and the opportunity, however, Joey will warm up to his peers and to caring and trusted adults. He is very polite and a great listener.

Joey has thought of going into the Navy after high school, but he has dreamt for years of becoming a popular DJ. In his spare time, he likes playing on the computer, riding his bike, and skateboarding. Science is his favorite subject in school. When faced with something new, Joey needs time to really think about it. But when he decides to go for something, he is all in.

Joey would benefit tremendously from coaching/mentoring to help him have confidence to reach his potential. Let downs from his biological family have caused him to put up walls and feel depressed. He worries everyone in his life will ultimately let him down. He would greatly benefit from a family that could help him understand how truly amazing he is. He wants desperately to belong to a family with a strong foundation and for that family to have the patience to give him the time he needs to open up and trust them. Once that is in place, he will achieve great things.
