Meet Taniel

Taniel is an extroverted 10-year-old, thin and gangly. He is very smart, sweet and fun. He takes school very seriously and is self-motivated. Science is his favorite subject. Like boys his age, he’s also energetic! To burn off that energy, you can find him outside riding his scooter or jumping rope. Inside, he’ll be playing a board game or watching sports. He’s easy going and loves to draw and make things with his hands. Taniel is musically inclined, playing saxophone in band class and singing beautifully. He loves to eat chicken nuggets or hamburgers and french fries after an outing to a movie or the zoo. Taniel is respectful, polite, and kind.

His mom has mental health difficulties and there was a lot of domestic violence in his home. He’s also very thoughtful, and given his history, being safe is important to him. He has feelings of self-doubt and is afraid of being abandoned. When you ask him, what would his ideal forever family look like he says “peaceful and helpful.” Taniel doesn’t want to keep moving and he would like a parent who “tells me the truth.” Ten family members have been contacted in an effort to keep him connected to his family – all of them were not interested.

Last year, he was so excited to learn that a potential adoptive family had reached out to get to know him. But Taniel’s one chance at adoption fell through. The family was not making Taniel a priority. They were very inconsistent in their visits and so it was decided they weren’t a good fit for him. You can imagine his disappointment.

Every day, this great kid wonders where his forever parents are and it breaks our heart. Taniel is a gem and we are doing our best to find a loving home for this special little guy.
