Meet Starr

Starr and her family lived on the streets of several large cities for 2 or 3 years before she and her siblings came into CPS custody in Houston. They had to leave their parents on the streets while they tried to find safety in foster homes.

Unfortunately, after first losing her parents, Starr then lost her siblings. They were all separated into different foster homes. But then Starr learned an aunt was interested in adoption so she happily went to live with her awaiting news that this would be her forever home.

But that news never came. The adoption fell through and again Starr was moved – losing touch with yet another family member. And after that move, she was moved again. And then again.

Now Starr is in a foster home where she feels respected. She has been able to reconnect with siblings, even though several have already aged-out of foster care and the others often move from foster home to foster home. But regardless, she clings to these relationships as she still desperately hopes for a family of her own.

Starr enjoys art classes and excels in them. She loves to play with toys and is most comfortable around people younger than she is, so she’s excellent with young kids. Starr understands that while she is safe now, this home cannot be a permanent one. She struggles with her self-esteem and that has slowed some development. She longs for stability that would help her thrive.

Starr has faced many losses and difficulties, and yet she still is still a radiating young woman who is still anxiously hoping for a family.
