Meet diamond

Diamond is a shy and gentle 14-year-old girl with beautiful brown eyes and a sweet smile. She loves the color red, is happy to play alone, and very affectionate.

When Diamond was younger, she was diagnosed with autism. His father struggled with his own issues, but tried to give Diamond the help she needed. Then Diamond began having seizures and as Diamond is non-verbal, her father felt overwhelmed by her care.

Diamond’s father tried the best he could, but when Diamond’s father felt he could no longer give her the attention she deserved, her father left Diamond in the care of her mother. Her father left the family and has not been heard from for over a decade.

Diamond’s mother was on her own to care for not only Diamond but her 3 other children. She tried her best but Diamond’s mom struggled with addiction and did not know what to do about Diamond’s seizures. When Diamond was 4, her mom took Diamond to the hospital, where she was admitted. Diamond’s mom would visit her, but she ultimately could not bring Diamond home to live with her.

Diamond went to live with a great-aunt for a while, but finally caring for a pre-schooler was too much for her.

Diamond’s uncle wanted to adopt her, but was in a bad accident at work and would no longer be able to care for her.

So, Diamond went into the foster system.

Diamond luckily has lived for the past 5 years in a foster home, with 3 other foster children. But this is not a forever home for her. Diamond’s foster parents care for her deeply and wish for her to find the loving family she deserves.
